Currently in Chicago — November 28, 2023: Clouds and cold continue

The weather, currently.

It’s going to be a chilly night, with a low around 16 and gusts up to 20mph. Tuesday will be similar to Monday, mostly sunny with a high near 28 and light winds, and Tuesday night will drop back down to 23. We should warm up into the 40s by Thursday, and we’ll have a chance of rain by the end of the week.

Chicago recently launched a new city-wide food composting program as part of their climate action goals. Other local programs are commercial and charge for the privilege of collecting your scraps, but this one is free. And they accept meat and other things that you can’t compost in your backyard. Everyone deserves to thrive. Everyone is worthy of a better world. That’s why we’re building a weather service for the climate emergency.

Currently’s new weather service is now live. In the weeks and months ahead, we’ll be continually adding more features and opening up more slots as we develop the service.

But for now, space is limited in the weather service because I want to make sure we can provide the highest quality service we possibly can while we work to refine the system with your input.

Our goal — as always — is to co-create the most personalized, most informative weather service that exists. And, above all, to make this service accessible, equitable, and resilient enough to bring safety and joy to the climate emergency.
