Currently in Chicago — November 10, 2023: A sunny and cool Veterans Day weekend

Plus, an all-new Currently Weather Service launches next week!

The weather, currently.

Mostly sunny and cool this weekend

Thursday night, we will see temperatures drop to the upper 30s with partly cloudy skies. We can expect mostly sunny skies on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with temps in the mid-40s to mid-50s dropping to the mid-30s at night, and light winds. It should be a beautiful, if chilly, weekend to get outside and enjoy the last of the fall foliage.

Today marks the 110th anniversary of the deadliest Great Lakes storm on record, the White Hurricane of 1913. It remains the worst inland maritime disaster in history, with nineteen ships and over 250 lives lost. The lessons learned during this tragedy have shaped shipping policies and forecast models that exist to this day.

What you need to know, currently.

It’s my great honor to announce that we have a big announcement coming next week.

The new Currently Weather Service is designed to be a complete re-imagination of what a weather service can be in the era of climate change. For us, this launch is at the heart and soul of what we want to do and what we stand for: timely, accurate and easy to understand weather information for everyone, everywhere.

This is a project that’s been in development for months and we’re finally ready to share it with the world.

And I can’t wait to share it with you first, next week.

What you can do, currently.

Currently Sponsorships are short messages we co-write with you to plug your org, event, or climate-friendly business with Currently subscribers.
