Currently in Chicago — June 4, 2024: Heat and humidity for at least one more day

Meteorological summer began this past weekend, which is really only an informal designation… but we all know the summer season here means long hot days punctuated with those magnificent Midwestern thunderstorms.

This year, we know the jet stream will be affected by La Niña, and that translates to hotter, dryer weather for us in the Chicago area. But the spring sprinkles aren’t finished with us yet… thunderstorms and showers will roll through off and on until Wednesday night, then the heavy heat will break and the clouds will lift in time for a gorgeous mild weekend full of beach weather.
